Piroto Labelling Limited specialises in the design and manufacture of labels and tags, and supplies both food and non-food retailing, food processing, garment manufacturing and the specialised pharmaceutical industry.

As a company dedicated to continuous improvement we are always looking at ways of improving our processes in order to ensure we remain a flexible and agile company able to respond to the needs of our customers.  To that end Richard offered to provide us with a ‘free’ ½ day hands-on Process Improvement Workshop.  He believed that this would not only give the participants an insight into the tools and techniques that could improve the way we do things, but that it could also help team building within the business.  It was an offer we didn’t refuse.

The workshop was a well-balanced mix of presentation by Richard and hands-on activity by the eight participants. It included a number of exercises and a supply-chain/manufacturing game: the objective of which was to see how we could improve output and quality, and at the same time reduce costs.  This objective was clearly demonstrated with all of the participants getting very involved.  The Sales Manager was even heard to remark that “it was the first time he’d seen one of his team with perspiration on his forehead!”

There were also a number of less obvious benefits.  People started to talk to each other across the room and provide feedback when things were going wrong.  They also started to help each other when they spotted one of their colleagues struggling to keep up, or understand a problem.  It also highlighted the importance that effective measuring, monitoring & reviewing plays in improving any process.

Richard provided us with a very clear understanding of the tools and techniques that can be used to carry out process improvements, and at the same time created an environment of improved communication and team working.  It was good fun too.

Following on from the workshop we have continued to engage Richard’s services in other areas of the business.
