Process Mapping & Systems Specification
Situation
Our client (a family owned shipping company) was experiencing considerable growth in the chartering of their fleet of oil tankers and bulk vessels. Good news! But it had placed a strain on their business processes and information systems. How could they continue to provide an efficient operation without jeopardising margins?
Our solution
- We captured the ‘current state’ processes for the procurement of spares, stores equipment and provisions (to ensure all vessels maximised their time under charter).
- We worked with the client to design more efficient ‘future state’ processes.
- We wrote systems specifications to allow the identification, selection and testing of alternative software applications to support ‘future state processes.
Process Chain provided the expertise, which was not available in-house, to capture and develop business processes, and write systems specifications, as well as that extra ‘pair of hands’ to allow users to concentrate on the operational needs of their business.
