Project Management (Germany)

Situation

Following on from the success of the UK distribution project (previous case study), the same client required project management assistance in Germany.  The incumbent 3PL was unable to achieve the required service level targets and was being replaced by a specialised food service distributor.  In addition to the need to maintain and even improve supply to the German restaurants, there was the added complication of stock ownership and transfer between the two parties.

Our solution

  • We developed a project plan in conjunction with the incumbent and new distributors.
  • We implemented a communication plan to ensure that the restaurants switched over their ordering at the appropriate time.
  • Daily monitoring of orders and supplies was put in place along with daily action plans to minimise disruption.
The total timescale for this project was about 4 months with ongoing weekly monitoring for a further month.
