Stage 1
We have received a customer order for 5 different products. You can see the products and the quantities required on the pick note in the top left hand corner. The fork lift truck driver has been given the picking note and he will now pick this order

Stage 2
The order has been picked and we can see the performance in the bottom left hand corner. We will process map the 'as-is' state not just for this order but for customer demand over a much longer timescale. We will also carry out Pareto Analysis on the Inventory (SKU's). Once we've done this we analyse the data and identify inefficiencies caused by the '7 wastes'. We then design the 'to-be' process map to reduce these inefficiencies. In this example it results a a warehouse re-design.

Stage 3
We will use the same customer order to compare the new warehouse layout with the previous one. The customer order is shown in the top right hand corner.

Stage 4
As you can see there is a significant reduction in time, distance and fuel, and a considerable increase in productivity and order throughput.
